Is Spray Foam Toxic?

Icynene® spray foam insulation is not toxic, and completely safe only 2 hours after being applied and, if done professionally, is not at all dangerous. Our non-toxic insulation is expunged using 99% pure air, harmless and independently tested. Once spray foam has been cured, it does not emit fumes or odours and is perfectly safe. In fact, open cell spray foam (used for residential applications) is actually recommended by AMICA, the European Association for the Environmental & Chronic Toxic Injury.

Is Icynene® spray foam toxic for children and animals?

As long as children and animals stayed out of the home for at very least 2 hours after the installation of Icynene® open cell spray foam and it was installed properly by a professional, then there is absolutely no danger. Cured and properly installed Icynene® open cell foams are not toxic to pets, children or anyone.

Will spray foam cause asthma or other breathing problems?

Icynene® open cell spray foam will not cause asthma or breathing problems in anyone. In fact, once properly installed Icynene® open cell spray foam has several health benefits. Correctly installed spray foam is completely airtight and will stop any air leakage. This will help to prevent airborne pollutants and allergens, making a much better environment for people with asthma and other breathing problems. Furthermore, Icynene® open cell spray foam can reduce mould and condensation as well as improving damp protection which is particularly important for people with these problems.

Is Icynene® spray foam toxic for the environment? 

Icynene® spray foam is not a toxic insulation for the environment, in fact, it is one of the most environmentally friendly insulations available on the market. The water-blown spray foam contains 99% pure air, no pollutants nor hazardous substances and is independently tested per the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 16000-9). Icynene® spray foam insulation products have been evaluated and listed in the NHAB Research Center Green Approved products program. Icynene® is made from recycled materials and therefore has the lowest global warming potential. Furthermore, as Icynene spray foam prevents heat loss, it helps the environment by ensuring less energy (electricity or gas depending on how you heat your home) is used, further helping its environmentally friendly footprint
